There has been an expectation that Man Utd will speak to other coaches and conduct interviews in order to bring in a new manager after Ruben Amorim was sacked. The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that he believes Carrick has a good chance of getting the permanent job. “Michael Carrick could well play himself into contention. Many have said you can not repeat what happened with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer; he could do well, but then you have to make a change.”

David Ornstein believes that Man Utd should run their process, start talking to available coaches, and study other coaches they may be interested in. He went on to say that Michael Carrick has four months to show what he is capable of as Man Utd coach.
